Memory Burnett Lawson - Founder & Senior Provider Partner
A mother of two, Memory Burnett began her entrepreneurial and professional career in early childhood education in 1999 as the founder of Love A Child Day Care. Several years later, in 2009, with the help of her business partner, Napoleon Lawson, Memory co-founded Quality First Child Care, increased her staff, extended her hours to evenings and weekends, offered transportation services to clients within her local area and recruited a second partner, Maria Cruz, to enhance the level of service she would be able to provide to her clients. Memory has served as the company's Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since its inception. With over fifteen years of experience working with families and children in the Bolingbrook, Naperville, Romeoville and Plainfield areas, Memory's leadership, business savvy, affection for children and commitment to exceeding her client's expectations have been essential to QFCC becoming one of the leading family child care service providers in Will County. Memory is currently working toward her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and is also a member of the National Association of Family Child Care (NAFCC) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Maria Cruz-Lawson - Founder & Senior Provider Partner
A mother of three, Maria has spent the vast majority of her professional career in the legal field as a legal secretary and legal recruiter. After the birth of her second child in 2002, Maria took a break from the legal profession to care for her son. While at home, to supplement her income, she provided care for her neighbor's children as an unlicensed provider from 2003 to 2005. During that period Maria discovered that, in addition to being a naturally skilled child care provider, she greatly enjoyed working with and caring for children other than her own. After retiring from the legal field in 2012, she decided to join QFCC and pursue a career in early childhood education. Since joining QFCC in 2012, Maria's business and clientele have flourished. Today, with the help of her god-daughter, Asia Dillon, and husband, Napoleon Lawson, Maria owns four very successful daycare homes. In addition to her duties as a child care provider, Maria also serves as QFCC's Secretary and Chief Administrative Officer. Like Memory, Maria is also working toward her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and is a member of the National Association of Family Child Care (NAFCC) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Desiree Phelps - Manager/Child Care Business Consultant
A mother of two, Desiree has been with Quality First Child Care since she was 18 years old. She has personally provided child care services to hundreds of families and helped QFCC grow from a single location to the more than 13 homes that exist today. Without Desiree’s commitment to providing excellent service to her clients, Quality First Child Care could never have thrived to the extent that it has. In addition to being an integral member of QFCC’s upper management team, Desiree currently assist with the oversight of QFCC’s Family Child Business Consultant Training Program and will be purchasing and opening her first family child care facility soon. QFCC is honored to have been a part of Desiree’s professional development and entrepreneurial journey and we could not imagine being in business without her. Lauren Williams - Provider Partner
A mother of two, Lauren spent several years working with families and children as a medical professional with Northwestern Memorial Hospital. After the birth of her second child in 2020, Lauren began seeking a homebased business opportunity that would satisfy her entrepreneurial appetite and yet, allow her to continue to work with families and children. After attending a QFCC Career Night Event and after several meetings with QFCC’s senior provider partners, Lauren decided that QFCC was the ideal platform to launch her family child care business. Lauren’s love for children, professionalism, charisma and business savvy has made her beloved by all of her clients and QFCC is privileged to have her as a member of our network.
